Live music is back!
World Music Festival Žilina is coming to delight your ears again.
After the online release of the last year´s WORLD MUSIC festival Žilina, the musicians from both the foreign and domestic world music scene will finally perform live at the beginning of October.
Due to the pandemic reasons, the tradition of spring world music concerts in Žilina as part of the WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL ŽILINA has been put off to the autumn. Nevertheless, the seventh year of the festival will again bring quality and varied music to all music lovers. On 7th and 8th October, visitors can look forward to Latin and Balkan baschavel performed by bands from different European countries.

World Music Festival Žilina is coming to delight your ears again.
After the online release of the last year´s WORLD MUSIC festival Žilina, the musicians from both the foreign and domestic world music scene will finally perform live at the beginning of October.
Due to the pandemic reasons, the tradition of spring world music concerts in Žilina as part of the WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL ŽILINA has been put off to the autumn. Nevertheless, the seventh year of the festival will again bring quality and varied music to all music lovers. On 7th and 8th October, visitors can look forward to Latin and Balkan baschavel performed by bands from different European countries.
The first festival day (October 7th, 2021) will bring hot Latin American music by LA3NO CUBANO, a Slovak multi-genre band performing since 2005. Its music is a well-mixed cocktail of world music and Slovak folklore. The performance will start at 7:30 pm in Smer Music Club 77. The festival programme will continue with BARO DROM ORKESTAR, an Italian band of four which combines the Mediterranean musical tradition with the Eastern European rhythms, but the elements of Mongolian and Brazilian music can be found there, too. This interesting fusion will undoubtedly rock everybody in the club.
Workshop by BUBNOVAČKA orchestra under the lead of the experienced members of Rytmika.sk will be held this year, as well. The workshop will give space for musical creativity and communication where participants will be able to use the number of percussions to experience the power of rhythm on their own.
The second festival day (October 8, 2021) will be opened by the original Czech world music band MIJAKTIČ ORKESTAR presenting its own view of the Balkan musical tradition. The band will open the event at 7 pm in the Municipal Theatre of Žilina. The rest of the evening will belong to BALKANSAMBEL and its guests. Under the lead of Marek Pastírik, this well-known local band will present an interesting project full of their most honoured guests. During the joint gala concert you will have a chance to enjoy the performance of MARTIN GEIŠBERG who, together with Daniel Špiner and Marek Pastírik, will play their mutual project “On the Blue Planet”.
The event will be topped off with ROZSUTEC, a folklore ensemble presenting the project “Just like that… “. It will demonstrate a unique combination of traditional Slovak folklore and the rhythms of a Balkan brass band spiced with an authentic dance show.
